INTEREST AREAS
Kaz Yousaf joined Dr. Ed Brothers' research group in January 2009, where he is working on the development and application of new methods in density functional theory. His previous research has spanned a variety of topics in quantum chemistry, including
- the calculation of accurate potential energy surfaces
- coupled cluster method development
- explicitly correlated electronic structure theories
- basis set development, and
- the calculation of magnetic properties, especially ring currents and their relation to aromaticity
EDUCATION
- Postdoctoral Research Associate, Washington State University, 2007-2008
- Doctor of Philosophy, University of Warwick, 2003-2007
- Bachelor of Science, University of Sheffield, 2000-2003
RECENT PUBLICATIONS AND CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
- K. E. Yousaf and P. R. Taylor, "On the electronic structure of small carbon clusters", Chem. Phys., 349 (1-3), 58 (2008)
- K. E. Yousaf and K. A. Peterson, "Optimized auxiliary basis sets for explicitly correlated methods", J. Chem. Phys., 129, 184108 (2008)
